Selling your equipment

We are always buying photographic equipment. Whether you have a single piece of equipment or a large lot, we're here for it.

Why sell us your equipment? We offer a hassle-free, one-stop selling experience. We're not a consignment shop: we buy the equipment from you and that's it- you don't have to worry about it any more. We take care of all the sales and support, and you can go back to living your life. If you aren't in the mood to field a bunch of offers and arrange meetups to sell your gear, our service might be for you.

If you'd like to get started, or if you have any questions, you can call us at (250) 382-6838 or send us an email.

PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE COMING IN IF YOU HAVE A LARGE LOT OF EQUIPMENT.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does it work?
You can drop your equipment off with us any time during our business hours. We'll document your equipment, provide you a receipt, and take the equipment into our queue for testing and evaluation. As soon as we're done, we'll contact you with an offer. If you decide to accept the offer, we'll provide payment right away; if we're unable to make an offer or you decide not to sell, we can hold the equipment for pickup for up to 30 days. There's no cost for the evaluation, and there is no obligation to sell.

How long does it take?
Current turnaround time is approximately 2-3 weeks
. We will advise you of current expected turnaround times when you drop off your equipment.

Do you buy everything?
We buy working equipment that we think we can sell. It doesn't matter if it's basic or fancy, film or digital: if it's working, in good condition, and marketable, we'll offer on it. Let us know what you have and we'll let you know if it has potential.

Can you tell me exactly how you test and price equipment?
Yes.

How much do you offer?
On most equipment, we offer at about 70% of our assessed market price. Our value calculations take into account market demand, condition, and completeness, so that number can fluctuate. For example, an item that is in high demand will get you more than one that we think is going to sit around for a while; an item that's missing a part or one that needs repair before resale will take a hit in value. If you're not sure about an assessed value, ask and we'll let you know how we came to our conclusion.

Can you give me a ballpark estimate before I bring in my equipment?
We can't, and it's not because we're trying to pull a fast one. We base our assessments on current market values, and we're as transparent as we can be with our offers: we're more than happy to explain every aspect of our conclusions. But we have chosen not to provide "ballpark estimates" because we find that there are too many variables in equipment condition and completeness to give you a number that's any more useful than your own best guess. So rather than make something up, we'd rather take your equipment through our process and give you a number you can take to the bank, so to speak. There's no cost for the evaluation, and there is no obligation to sell.

Is there anything else I need to know?
Yes: we require valid photo ID when we take in equipment for evaluation. Please remember to bring your ID with you when you visit. If you do not have valid ID, we will not be able to take in your equipment.
