What's going on with the whole coronavirus thing?

2020 has been an unpredictable year, so maybe this update will help a tiny bit.

For the last little while, we’ve been in the process of bringing the shop back to some semblance of full operation. We’ve upgraded our website to make browsing and ordering easier, and we’ve opened up our rental program again, including online bookings.

We’ve gone from delivery only to opening our location for at-the-door pickups, and over the next few weeks we’ll be moving forward from there.

Next week, starting on the 8th, we’re adding a Wednesday. That means we’ll be open Tuesday to Saturday from 11AM-3PM. Still at-the-door service, but you can pre-order from our website to make your life a bit easier (we know that it’s tough to browse the shop from the doorway)

But hey, the following week- starting on Tuesday the 15th- we’ll be expanding our hours to Tuesday-Saturday, 10AM-6PM. And we’ll be opening our doors all the way for in-store browsing, too. Social distancing policies will be in effect, as you can imagine, but we’re looking forward to welcoming you back into our space… it’s been way too long. Watch for updates here.

With regard to inventory:

Yes, we are low on a lot of different film stocks. If you take a look at our film selection, you’ll notice that we’re out of a bunch of stuff that you probably want to buy. That’s getting better very soon: Kodak products are due in on Wednesday or Thursday of next week, and colour processing kits should be in at about the same time. Fujifilm and Lomography product is also on the way, and although we don’t have an ETA on these, they’re in the mail. We’re working on refreshing our stock of batteries, which are apparently in short supply everywhere. No expected arrival times on those, but we’re doing what we can.

When the gears of commerce grind to a halt, it’s a bit of an ordeal to get them moving again. Producers, distributors, and shipping companies have been operating at lower capacity for some time, and that means that the flow of merchandise has been spotty, to say the least. It’s been as frustrating for us as I’m sure it’s been for you, but we do apologize for the inconvenience, and we’re doing our best to bring in enough stock to reliably buffer against future supply interruptions, because this ain’t over.

That’s it for now. We’ll post updates on opening hours and policies soon, and inventory updates as appropriate- also, you can check in on our website, which is updated in real time with inventory, both new and used.

Thanks for your support.
